The position is for a person who wants to develop as a designer and understand the inner workings of a busy textile design studio. You will work alongside the designers of our very hands on New York studio and learn to apply your skills in drawing, painting, design, etc. to create original prints for current fashion market and fabric industry. You will learn and participate in the prints sample production process. At least 3 days a week are required. Additionally, there will be some organizational duties within design studio.
Requirements: You should have strong hand drawing, painting skills and color sense. The designs are based on CAD, and so knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator are a plus. However, basic computer skills are a must. Must be organized, punctual, and professional. Must love fashion and prints.
There is no monetary compensation. School credit is available.

– Mimamki TX2-1600 inkjet large format textile printer in excellent working condition, all printheads changed within last year, serviced regularly. Currently set to print bi-directionally with two sets of eight refillable cartridges, and Huntsman Acid inks. Used for design sample printing only, low but consistent volume.
– Left over 8 canisters of Huntsman inks, some colors are full.
– PC computer with the RIP Ergosoft software. Two profiles are set – one for sheer and one for non sheer silks.
